The cause of the fatal fire at 4114 Robinwood has been determined to be accidental and electrical in nature, located in the area of the electrical outlet in the southwest corner of the living room. Investigators were unable to find any evidence of a working smoke detector at the time of the fire.
December 13, 2011 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 4114 Robinwood at 3:37 a.m. this morning. A female resident was awakened by the smell of smoke. She and her daughter were able to self-evacuate from the home and contact 911. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the structure and were told two people, the woman’s son and fiancée, were still inside. Crews entered the structure and were able to locate the two victims: Carson Tubbs, age 20; and Jonette Chacon, age 19. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
It was reported there was a fire near the wall behind the Christmas tree. Investigators believe there was no working smoke detector in the home at the time of the fire. The fire’s cause remains under investigation.
