Cass Street House Fire

December 30, 2011 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1602 Cass Street.  Fire units arrived on the scene to find the home owner, who self-evacuated after hearing the home's smoke alarm, outside.  Firefighters entered the structure and found fire in the basement.  Crews quickly contained the fire and extinguished it.  The structure received moderate fire damage and minor smoke damage.  The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
