September 7, 2012 -  The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 125 Dewald St. West with occupants trapped on the roof. Upon arrival, crews saw heavy flames and smoke coming from the second story.   The last of the trapped occupants was leaving the roof via a ladder. While the individual has not been identified, a man helped those trapped by extending a ladder to the roof enabling the residents to climb to safety prior to FWFD's arrival. Crews made entry to the structure and continued with primary search confirming no one else was inside. Firefighters were able to locate the fire and extinguish. Some fire extension to the neighboring house was reported.   Crews were able to limit the fire's spread and the house sustained minor exterior damage only. The originating fire structure sustained heavy damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported. TRAA, FWPD, Neighborhood Code assisted at the scene. Red Cross was called to assist the victims.
