Tecumseh Bridge Water Rescue

November 7, 2013 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department and its Water Rescue Team responded to a report of a possible vehicle in the water at the Tecumseh Bridge. A regular commuter driving by noticed "new" damage to the bridge with a portion of the cement guardrail missing. On arrival, FWFD divers made entry and located a tuck fully submerged upside down in the water. Further investigation by the divers identified two people inside the cab of the truck. Firefighters were able to extricate the victims and pull the bodies to shore. Both were pronounced dead on scene. A wrecker then pulled the truck from the water at 8:50 a.m. The identity and cause of death of the victims will be released by the Allen County Coroner's office. The cause and time of the crash is under investigation by the FWPD. TRAA, FWPD, DNR, Allen County Coroner, the City's Street Department and Parker Wrecker Service assisted at the scene.
