Butler Rd. Fire

November 25, 2013 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire at 4099 Butler Road. The call was received by a passing motorist calling from Hillegas Road. The Fort Wayne Fire Department sent a full response (three Engines, one Ladder, the Rescue and two Battalion Chiefs.) On arrival fire was showing from the back side and roof area of the one story pole bard. While crews battled the blaze, FWFD Command called for an additional Engine due to the size of the structure and the limited hydrants and their locations in relation to the fire structure. Concurrently, the address was identified as an Allen County address and Dispatch notified county fire departments. Units from Southwest Fire District, Aboite, Arcola and Washington Fire Departments arrived and assisted FWFD crews already on scene. Together they worked to bring the fire under control in 39 minutes. Once the fire was controlled FWFD transitioned Command to the County units for the necessary and extensive overhaul. No injuries were reported. The fire's cause remains under investigation.
