S. Monroe Street Fire

July 13, 2014 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 3:39 a.m. in the 3000 block of S Monroe Street.  First arriving crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from three sides of the two story house.  Crews aggressively battled the fire from the exterior until they could make entry to search for occupants. It was determined no one was inside.  After 40 minutes, firefighters were able to place the fire under control.  The structure sustained heavy damage and its integrity had been compromised.  It was razed later that morning.  Nipsco, AEP, Neighborhood Code, TRAA and FWPD assisted at the scene.  No injuries were reported.
