The Fort Wayne Fire Department will be accepting applications for lateral transfers from December 7th, 2010 until January 21st, 2011. Applications will not be available until December 7th, 2010. You must have the following minimum requirements in order to submit an application:
- Must be a current full-time paid employee with a career fire department in Indiana for at least one year. Full-time employee shall be defined as a person who works a minimum of 40-56 hours per week and is compensated as a full-time employee and receives full-time employee benefits.
- CPAT Certification*
- The following certifications valid through Indiana Department of Homeland Security
1. Firefighter I/II
2. EMT/B or higher
3. Hazardous Materials Operations
4. Tech Rescue Awareness
- If the candidate meets all of the above qualifications, but has been laid off from their career departments, they will be eligible for up to one year from their lay off date.
- Must not be older than 36 years of age by graduation date of the Academy (estimated to be September 30, 2011)
*CPAT certification must have been completed after January 21, 2010.
*FWFD will be offering CPAT testing beginning December 13, 2010. You must have your CPAT certification no later February 12, 2011.
If you are planning on acquiring your CPAT certification through FWFD, you must be registered by December 10th, 2010 in order to participate in the 8-week CPAT program. To register for CPAT, please contact Captain Travis Hostler by email or by phone (260) 427-5141.
