February 5, 2014 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 2033 McKinnie.  On arrival crews found fire coming from the side of the one story home.  Crews located the fire in the living room area and were able to control it in five minutes.  One person was home at the time of the blaze.  While the individual was able to self-evacuate prior to FWFD's arrival, medical attention was needed.  The subject was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.  While searching the home, firefighters did locate two cats that had perished.  The structure sustained moderate water, smoke and fire damage.  The cause remains under investigation.
