The Philmore Building Fire

April 12, 2014 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to The Philmore on Broadway after neighbors called reporting heavy black smoke coming from the business.  First arriving crews found smoke coming from the kitchen hood stack in the roof of the building.  Firefighters made entry and were able to locate the fire in the building's kitchen area and extinguish it.  While fire and water damage was moderate, there was heavy smoke damage throughout the structure.  No one was inside the building at the time of the blaze.  Investigators determined the fire was accidental in nature and was caused by towels that ignited after normal cleaning and drying.
