The Fort Wayne Fire Department hosted the Tenth Annual Fort Wayne / Allen County Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony on October 9th 2010. The ceremony was held at the Law Enforcement / Firefighters Memorial of Allen County which is located on Wells Street just north of the St. Mary’s River Bridge.

 

This year was a very special ceremony – recognition and presentations were made by the City of Fort Wayne / Fort Wayne Fire Department, Southwest Fire District and the International Association of Fire Fighters. These presentations were unprecedented and meant to express the commitment of the organizations to the memory of our fallen heroes. 

 

The Memorial site continues to impress and is a testimony to the entire community for their generous donations and colaborative effort with both firefighters and law enforcement officers to make the Memorial a reality. A marble slate with the names of the fallen firefighters was just recently placed in time for the ceremony. The law enforcement marble slate is expected to be finished soon.

 

The event was well attended by many of the Allen County Fire Departments. We thank all those who attended and assisted with another succesful memorial ceremony for those Allen County firefighters who gave the utltimate sacrifice to their community.
