January 2, 2019 - A number of callers, including one driving down Airport Expressway dialed 911 to report flames and smoke from the upper portion of a Waynedale home. FWFD units arrived four minutes later and reported an attic fire. One occupant and a pet self-evacuated when neighbors knocked on the door. The fire was contained to the attic and the chimney. Cause of the fire was a build up of birds nests in and around the chimney. It caused only minor damage to the attic/roof area. The fire was under control 13 minutes after dispatch. The FWFD was assisted by TRAA, FWPD, NCE & AEP.
