In May of 2003 the Fort Wayne Fire Department added a new Station on Getz Rd. Engine 17 is a 2005 Class A Triple Combination American LeFrance Engine which carries 1,000 gallons of water and is capable of pumping 1,000 gallons of water per minute (GPM). Station 17 has a staff of 4 firefighters and Battalion Chief 17. Station 17 also houses a Fort Wayne Police Department outpost for the Southwest Officers.
