Aug. 22, 2016 - The Fort Wayne Fire Dept. responded to a reported house fire in the 5000 block of Webster St. On arrival firefighters found a one story wood frame house with smoke coming out of it. The first unit on scene arrived in about four to five minutes. Firefighters found occupant outside along with 3 dogs upon arrival. Firefighters found most of the fire was located in the back of the house on the outside. The fire had extended into the attic area of the home. Firefighter went inside and opened up the attic area to extinguish the fire. The fire was placed under control in about 10 minutes. There was Minor fire damage with Moderate water and smoke damage. The fire remains under investigation and no injuries were reported. Red Cross was called to assist with 2 Adults and 3 Children. Assisting at the scene was N.E.C., TRAA, NIPSCO, AEP, FWPD.

Aug. 13, 2016 - A passing motorist called 911 and advised there was smoke coming from a house in the 700 block of East Wayne. The Fort Wayne Fire Department arrived 3 minutes later and found a large 2 story residential home with smoke coming from the roof. Crews made entry and went to the second floor to fight the attic fire. Other crews searched the home but determined that it was not occupied. No injuries were reported and the fire was under control in 20 minutes. The fire department was assisted by FWPD, Neighborhood code and AEP

Aug. 9, 2016 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to the 500 block of Edgeknoll Ln. on a reported house fire. Crews arrived to find the entire back of the home involved in fire. The occupants were outside with their pets. Fire crews extinguished the fire. The home was heavily damaged and the fire is under investigation. The Fire Department was assisted by TRAA, FWPD, AEP, NIPSCO and Neighborhood Code.

July 13, 2016 - Occupants of a home on Third Street were awoken by neighbors pounding on their door and alerting them their house was on fire. An adult, a child, and 2 dogs safely evacuated and there were no injuries. Fort Wayne firefighters arrived to find flames on an outside wall of the home beginning to break through to the inside and quickly extinguished the fire and minimized further damage to the residence.

July 8, 2016 - The Fort Wayne Fire Dept. responded to a reported house fire in the 5000 block of Hoagland Av. On arrival firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from a back bedroom of the residence. The first units arrived on scene in about three minutes. Firefighters found that all occupants of the home had self-evacuated before the Fire Dept. arrival. Firefighters made an interior attack on the fire in the back bedroom they also checked for extension into the attic area with nothing found. The fire was placed under control in about 20 minutes. 1 minor injury to a firefighter was reported. There was heavy smoke, water, fire damage though out the structure. No other injuries were reported. This fire remains under investigation. Red Cross was called to assist with 2 Adults and 3 Children. Assisting at the scene was N.E.C., TRAA, NIPSCO, AEP, FWPD.

August 15, 2015 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 400 block of Violet Ct., fire crews arrived to smoke coming from the attic area. Fire crews searched the house and found a small fire in the attic near the rear of the house. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and overhauled the area. The fire was under control in 10 minutes. No one was home at the time of the fire and is still under investigation.

August 15, 2015 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of a residential structure fire in the 3600 block of Bowser Ave. The first engine arrived on the scene within one minute and found smoke coming from the house. The crew forced entry for fire attack. Another crew arrived and searched the house but found that no one was home. The fire started in the bedroom and no injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation.

August 10, 2015 - FWFD units responded to a reported house fire in the 4000 block of Hoagland Ave. Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from a 2 story home with the occupants standing outside. Crews made a quick interior attack on the fire in the basement and were able to put it under control within 7 minutes. No injuries were reported by the occupants or firefighters, but 2 parakeets perished due to smoke conditions. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

August 9, 2015 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to the 4200 block of Avondale on a reported house fire with fire showing. Crews arrived to find heavy fire throughout the structure. A search of the home found that it was empty of people and pets. No one was hurt while extinguishing this fire. The fire is under investigation.

August 8, 2015 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to a house fire in the 3100 block of Webster St. with fire and smoke showing. When the Fire Department arrived the occupants were not home at the time of the fire but bystanders had forced open a door and removed the pets and made sure no one else was in the home. One neighbor was overcome by the smoke and was transported to the hospital by TRAA. The neighbor was listed in fair condition. It took crews 12 minutes to bring the fire under control. Damage was contained to the kitchen and attic area over the kitchen.

July 23, 2015 - FWFD units responded to a reported house fire this evening in the 600 block of Anderson. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from an upstairs bedroom on the front side of the home. 1 adult and 1 child had self-evacuated prior to FWFD arrival. Crews were able to make an aggressive interior attack and quickly extinguished the fire within 10 minutes of arrival. One bedroom was heavily damaged. Investigators determined that the fire was accidental in nature. One adult suffered minor burns. No firefighters were injured.

August 29, 2014 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire this morning in the 2900 block of Pittsburg Street.  Within two minutes crews arrived on scene to find moderate fire coming from the front living area and bedroom of the one story home.  One person was home at the time of the blaze but self-evacuated prior to FWFD's arrival.  Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire in seven minutes. The home sustained moderate fire and water damage. No injuries were reported. 

August 11, 2014 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to Three Fountains Apartments after an occupant reported smelling smoke in her apartment. On arrival crews found fire in the unit next door. While no one was home in the fire unit, six occupants of the two neighboring apartments safely evacuated prior to FWFD's arrival. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze within 17 minutes. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

August 2, 1014 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 700 block of W. Dewald.  First arriving crews found smoke coming from the two story home.  Five people, two adults and three children, were home and able to self-evacuate prior to FWFD's arrival.  Crews made entry and located the fire in the utility room and kitchen area and quickly extinguished it.  The structure sustained moderate fire, smoke and water damage.  The cause remains under investigation.  No injuries were reported.

August 23, 2013 - One person escaped and two pets were rescued at an early morning fire in the 4200 block of South Lafayette Street.  The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire and found fire coming from a side window of the one story structure.  Firefighters located the fire in the front bedroom of the home and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze in ten minutes.  No injuries were reported.  The home's occupant had safely self-evacuated prior to FWFD's arrival.  The structure sustained moderate damage.  The neighboring home was also damaged.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

August 19, 2013 - A plume of black smoke could be seen as far as 30 miles away as more than 80 firefighters battled a sprawling industrial blaze on Monday. The FWFD was dispatched to 1200 Herbert St. after receiving calls of black smoke and fire were visible. Within two minutes, crews arrived on scene and made entry. Approximately 15 minutes later, after conditions worsened, firefighters were forced to evacuate the structure and fight the fire defensively as it continued to spread. Multiple buildings in the complex were destroyed. While two firefighters were treated on scene, no other injuries were reported. Air and water quality in and around the site were continuously monitored and no elevated levels of hazardous materials were detected. No evacuations were mandated. AEP was requested to cut power to the affected fire area. This cut impacted neighborhoods on the same grid. Power was restored to AEP customers by 9:30 pm. FWFD remained on scene throughout the night monitoring and extinguishing hot spots. Demolition crews were also on scene working in coordination with the FWFD Investigators as they work to determine the cause of the blaze.

August 17, 2013 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of an apartment fire at 1905 Hillside Ave. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the second story. Firefighters made entry and located the fire in the bathroom of apartment #3 and quickly extinguished it in 20 minutes. Eight people were inside the building at the time of the fire and were able to self-evacuate prior to FWFD's arrival. One adult was transported to a local hospital in good condition. The building sustained moderate damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

August 17, 2013 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of an apartment fire at the Stratford Place Apartments. The first engine arrived in three minutes and found fire coming from a first floor window of a two story apartment building. The crew located the fire in apartment C, pulled a line for fire attack and began a primary search. Other crews arriving assisted with fire control and the evacuation of neighboring apartments. While there were two adults and three children initially inside the fire apartment, everyone escaped unharmed prior to FWFD's arrival. Crews had the fire under control in 18 minutes. The structure sustained moderate damage. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

August 5, 2013 -  Fort Wayne Fire Department's Engine 9 responded to a fire service call by an off-duty firefighter who reported smelling smoke in the area along WayneTrace/New Haven Ave. The crew canvassed the area and identified smoke coming from the roof eves of a home at 2216 Reynolds E. After requesting additional crews, Engine 9 forced entry and began an interior attack on the fire located in the kitchen area of the home while other crew members began a primary search and located a victim in a rear bedroom. The subject was pulled to safety where medics immediately took over patient care. The subject was later declared dead on scene. Firefighters battling the blaze were able to contain and extinguish the fire in 21 minutes.

The identity and cause of death of the victim will be released by the Coroner. The cause of the blaze is under investigation. TRAA, FWPD, Nipsco, AEP and the Allen County Coroner assisted at the scene. Animal Control was also called to assist after crews found two cats that also perished in the fire.

August 2, 2013 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 312 E. Masterson. On arrival crews found the front of the house and its front porch fully involved.  Crews were able to knock down the exterior fire and quickly gained entry to contain the fire that had extended inside and up into the second floor of the two story home. The structure sustained moderate fire and water damage and minor smoke damage.  The house was under renovation and no one was inside at the time of the fire.  The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

August 25, 2012 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 2737 Washington Center Road, Lot 161.  When crews arrived they found the mobile home completely involved.  Crews were able to extinguish the fire, but the structure was a total loss.  No one was home at the time, but two puppies perished in the blaze.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Celebrating 15 years of participation, the Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) and International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 124 will be out this Thursday through Saturday, August 23-25, with their “Fill the Boot” campaign to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

August 21, 2012 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to 2606 Princeton Ave. for a possible structure fire.  Upon arrival crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the one story house.  Crews made entry and were able to control and extinguish the fire in under 15 minutes.  No one was home at the time of the blaze, but crews rescued three pets from the house.  Two were turned over to Animal Control, one animal died.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

August 20, 2012 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 2121 Riedmiller Ave.  Upon arrival crews found heavy smoke coming from the basement of the two story home.  After making entry and searching for anyone inside the structure, it was determined no one was home.  Crews were able to contain the fire to the basement and quickly extinguish it.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

FORT WAYNE, IND., August 16, 2012 –The Honorable Mayor Henry, City Clerk Sandy Kennedy and Fort Wayne Fire Department’s (FWFD) Fire Chief Amy Biggs promoted the following firefighters to their new Administration Command positions, Thursday, August 16 at 10 a.m. at the City Clerk's Office at Citizens Square.

August 9, 2012 - Just before midnight, the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of smoke coming from a house at 708 Greenlawn.  Upon arrival crews did find smoke coming from the roof of the two story structure.  Firefighters made entry and determined the structure to be vacant.  Crews located the fire in the attic area and were able to extinguish the fire in 16 minutes.  FWFD was called back to the structure around 7 am after reports of a smoke coming from the structure.  FWFD was able to quickly extinguish the rekindle. 

August 9, 2012 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire at 2530 Commercial Drive. Upon arrival crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the front office area of the structure.   Crews entered the building, and after their primary search, determined no one was inside.   A proactive call for an additional Engine was made due to the size and type of structure.   Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in 35 minutes with no extension into the attached warehouse space. TRAA, FWPD, NIPSCO, I&M assisted at the scene. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

August 9, 2012 -Crews responded to a structure fire at 4865 Oliver Street. After making entry, firefighters located a semiconscious victim who was quickly carried to safety. Crews were also able to save two dogs from the structure. The fire was located in the kitchen area of the home and extinguished in less than 10 minutes. The home's occupant was treated on-scene and expected to make a full recovery. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

August 9, 2012 -The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a report of an apartment fire on Turtle Creek Drive. With smoke visible on arrival, crews were able to locate the fire in one apartment's kitchen. The blaze was quickly extinguished. No one was home at the apartment at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

August 6, 2012 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to a working structure fire at 1819 Riedmiller.  Within three minutes of the 911 call, firefighters arrived on scene and rescued five occupants, two adults and three children, from front porch roof with the assistance of Fort Wayne Police.  With heavy fire and smoke coming from the first floor of the house and porch area, firefighters made entry for further search and rescue.  No other occupants or pets were found inside the structure and the fire was extinguished.  No injuries were reported at the scene and no medic transport was needed for the five occupants rescued.  The structure sustained heavy smoke, fire and water damage.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. 

August 5, 2012 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 6606 Orangewood Ct.  First arriving units found fire and smoke coming from the house.  One adult was home at the time of the fire and was outside when firefighters arrived.  The fire was placed under control in approximately 15 min. The structure sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

August 1, 2012 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 4102 Tacoma Ave.  Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the first floor of the home with extension into the second story.  Fire was extinguished in 15 minutes, but extensive overhaul was needed.  Three people were downstairs when one adult went upstairs and found smoke.  They quickly evacuated the structure.  No injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
