November 25, 2012 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported apartment fire at the F building at 1920 Hobson Road. On arrival crews saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof on the south end of the two story structure with multiple people on their balconies. Crews rescued those outside and made an interior search and rescue and evacuated more residents. Crews were able to locate the fire and extinguish the blaze. Approximately 40 people were rescued/evacuated from the 24 unit structure and are being assisted by the Red Cross. One person was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital in good condition for smoke related illness. No other injuries were reported. While the fire was contained to the south end of the building, the entire structure sustained heavy smoke damage. At this time, there is no estimation as to when the apartment's residents will be able to return. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. (Photo Credit - David B Photography)
