November 6, 2013 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported modular home fully engulfed in fire in the 2700 block of W. Washington Rd. Upon arrival at lot #219, firefighters found a single wide home fully involved with fire exposure to the neighboring home. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to lot 219, but the fire house was a total loss. Seven people were home at the time of the blaze but were able to self-evacuate and were being assisted by the Red Cross. One occupant did suffer burns to their arm and was transported to a local hospital. As many as five family pets may have perished. FWPD, TRAA and AEP assisted at the scene. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
