February 14, 2014 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire at Art Van Furniture Store at 311 E. Coliseum Blvd.  Upon arrival crews found smoke showing from the front of the building.  All occupants were already evacuated.  Firefighters made entry and located active fire at the front of the building in the interior wall and ceiling area.  Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly  but extensive overhaul was necessary to expose and extinguish hidden fires and hot spots.  Adjacent occupancies in the strip mall structure were checked for smoke and fire extension.  Crews prevented any fire spread beyond initial occupancy.  The fire was placed under control in less than one hour.  The structures sustained moderate fire damage and minor water and smoke damage.  The cause remains under investigation.
