September 15, 2014 - Early this morning the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire in the 5600 block of Woodshire Drive.  Upon arrival crews made entry seeing no evidence of fire as they entered the apartment building. As they approached apartment #3 on the first floor, firefighters saw smoke rolling from the bottom of the door.  Crews forced entry into the apartment and immediately began searching for possible victims in the heavy smoke filled apartment.  Firefighters quickly located and evacuated one person from the living room area to the medics outside.  The patient was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.  One additional person and one dog were evacuated by the FWFD in the eight apartments cleared.  No additional injuries were reported.  Those residents displaced by the fire were being assisted by the apartment complex management team.  At the time of this report, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
