November 1, 2014 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 2700 block of E. Paulding Road.  The first units arrived and found light smoke in the hallway of the two story structure.  Crews forced entry to an apartment on the second floor and found a working fire in the kitchen area of the apartment.  Firefighters searched the apartment and found no one.  The apartment's  two occupants had already safely evacuated prior to FWFD's arrival.  While crews extinguished the fire, other crews evacuated nine other apartments as a precaution.  The fire was under control in less than 10 minutes.   Moderate fire, water and smoke damage was sustained in the fire apartment with some water damage to the apartment below.  All other residents were able to return to their apartments.  Red Cross assisted those displaced.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
