November 3, 2014 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire in the 600 block of Cherry Street.  The first engine arrived on scene and found fire coming from the first floor of the two story home.  Crews made entry and were able to contain and extinguish the blaze in 10 minutes.  While no occupants were home at the time of the blaze, two cats, two rabbits died and one dog was rescued.  Investigators determined the fire was started by an overturned kerosene heater.  The structure sustained moderate fire and smoke damage.
