November 21, 2014 -  The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire at 1800 block of Rothbury Ct. The home's occupants reported smoke in the basement and were evacuating. On arrival crews found smoke visible from the basement and garage of the two story home with all occupants safely outside. Crews made an aggressive interior attack were forced out due to high heat and compromised integrity of the structure. Crews continued to battle the blaze defensively until conditions improved. Progress was made and crews reentered the home to continue fire attack and ensuring no further extension. Some floor collapse on the first floor was reported. At the time of this report, crews remain on scene performing extensive overhaul and ensuring all hot spots are extinguished. No injuries have been reported though one cat died in the fire.   FWPD, Animal Control, TRAA, Neighborhood Code, AEP, Nipsco and St. Joe's rehab bus assisted at the scene.   The cause of the fire is under investigation.
