November 14, 2015 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 1200 block of Swinney Ave. Upon arrival, it was reported by FWPD that occupants of the first floor apartment were out of the structure but conditions on the second floor did not allow them to confirm that the second floor was unoccupied. While the first Fire unit attacked the fire the second unit searched the second floor and found it to be unoccupied. The structure housed 4 apartments with 2 sustaining heavy fire and water damage and the other 2 having smoke damage. No injuries were reported by any Occupant or Firefighter, but 2 cats did not survive the fire. Extensive overhaul of the fire apartment revealed no extension and the fire was put under control. The fire remains under investigation.
