July 8, 2016 - The Fort Wayne Fire Dept. responded to a reported house fire in the 5000 block of Hoagland Av. On arrival firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from a back bedroom of the residence. The first units arrived on scene in about three minutes. Firefighters found that all occupants of the home had self-evacuated before the Fire Dept. arrival. Firefighters made an interior attack on the fire in the back bedroom they also checked for extension into the attic area with nothing found. The fire was placed under control in about 20 minutes. 1 minor injury to a firefighter was reported. There was heavy smoke, water, fire damage though out the structure. No other injuries were reported. This fire remains under investigation. Red Cross was called to assist with 2 Adults and 3 Children. Assisting at the scene was N.E.C., TRAA, NIPSCO, AEP, FWPD.
